TUPELO – A Tupelo nonprofit dedicated to helping mothers facing crisis pregnancies is getting a new staff person.
Effective April 29, Jima Alexander will be the first director of community relations for Parkgate Pregnancy Clinic.
Alexander is the mother of two and wife of the Rev. Tim Alexander, minister of education at Harrisburg Baptist Church in Tupelo. She comes to Parkgate after serving more than 11 years as executive director of Avonlea Assisted Living and Retirement Community in Tupelo.
Alexander received her associate’s degree in nursing from Itawamba Community College and her bachelor’s degree in business from LeTourneau University, a private Christian college in Texas.
As part of her duties at Parkgate, Alexander, who worked as a labor and delivery nurse in Texas, will serve as a liaison with local health care professionals and will head up education initiatives.
“I greatly enjoyed my time at Avonlea, and I’m looking forward to helping Parkgate grow in the wonderful work they do,” said Alexander, who will be succeeded at Avonlea by Danyel Filgo, the current marketing director.
Parkgate Pregnancy Clinic, formerly known as Sav-a-Life, started in 1983.
