WAYNESBORO, Tenn. — A 20-mile stretch of the Natchez Trace Parkway has been closed in Tennessee because thunderstorms brought down power lines and tree limbs.
The parkway — which is a long, narrow national park extending from Nashville, Tenn., through a corner of Alabama to Natchez, Miss. — is closed between Tennessee state routes 13 and 64.
Traffic is being diverted through Collinwood and Waynesboro, according to the national park service.
Storms that blew through Tennessee Wednesday night and Thursday caused widespread damage. Forecasters say storms could redevelop Thursday afternoon, but should not be as intense as the earlier cells.
Cellular coverage is spotty on the parkway, but current road conditions are available at (662) 680-4027.
