WINONA — Mary Purnell, one of two jurors charged with perjury during the 2008 murder trial of Curtis Giovanni Flowers, is scheduled to go to trial Nov. 16 in Belzoni.
Purnell and James Bibbs were each charged with perjury in the Flowers trial, which ended in a hung jury.
Prosecutors say Purnell allegedly received calls from the jail where Flowers was being held. They say Purnell’s name was on Flowers’ visitation list.
Flowers is accused in the 1996 killing of four people at Tardy Furniture in Winona. Three convictions were overturned and a fourth ended in a mistrial. No new trial date has been set.
Bibbs’ perjury trial, originally scheduled for July in Yazoo City, has been postponed.
