Piggly Wiggly to keep meat, seafood open

By NEMS Daily Journal

SALTILLO – Piggly Wiggly is closing its grocery operations temporarily, but will keep its meat and seafood department open.
Store Manager Don Turner said a “restructuring” is under way at the store, which opened in May 2009 in the Center City Market.
The deli and frozen food sections of the store have closed, with about 3,500 square feet now walled off. Turner said he hopes to attract a restaurant to fill the place.
The meat department, which supplies burgers to Varsity Grille in Tupelo and Oxford, will stay open no matter what happens to the grocery side, Turner said.
Customers on the store’s e-mail list who get updates about the seafood and meat department will continue to get them.
Questions about store hours or any other related matters should be directed to Turner at (662) 213-6847.
