TUPELO – Cheryl Pine was re-indicted by a Lee County grand jury to cover some legal issues in her original indictment, Assistant District Attorney David Daniels said Monday.
Pine is accused in the alleged murder-for-hire scheme to kill her husband, James. She has pleaded not guilty.
Pine’s Jackson attorney, James Craig, said he was not informed about the new indictment dated July 10.
Claude Sexton of Pontotoc, described as her lover, is an unindicted co-conspirator who reportedly secured an uncover law enforcement agent to pose as a hit man.
Pine remains out on $500,000 bond. Although she was set for an Aug. 17 trial, a new schedule is likely with the new accusations, Daniels said.
