ABERDEEN — Two Monroe County sheriff’s deputies were hospitalized after being attacked by a pit bull.

WTVA TV reports the attack occurred Wednesday night near Aberdeen.

Sheriff Cecil Cantrell says Tiffany Taylor and David Mitchell responded to a call from a man who was attacked by a pit bull. Cantrell says the man was injured on his legs and groin area.

Cantrell says when the deputies walked into the yard, they were attacked by the dog.

He says Taylor was thrown to the ground, and the dog attacked her, biting her up and down her arm.

Cantrell says the animal was put down by a Humane Society representative.

No charges have been filed against the dog’s owner.
