Plantersville man held on assault charges

Lewis Lockridge of Plantersville is being held on a $2 million for assaulting his pregnant girlfriend and threatening to shoot her during an altercation late Monday evening. The victim was treated at North MS Medical Center and was released the next day. Law Enforcement officers cannot comment on the status of the fetus.

Emergency Room personnel notified the Plantersville Police of the domestic violence assault on a pregnant female. Assistant Chief Shirley Moon and LT Kerry Whitten (Chief of Patrol) conducted an investigation and Lewis Lockridge, 27, of 114 Foster Street in Plantersville was arrested in the early morning hours of Tuesday at the scene of the incident. The firearm used in the incident was voluntarily surrendered to the police.

Lockridge was charged with aggravated domestic violence. On Wednesday, Lockridge had an initial appearance before Judge John H. Sheffield. Bond was set in the amount of $2,000,000.00 and Lockridge remains in custody at the Lee County Adult Correctional Facility.
