Plantersville park looking to get a facelift

PLANTERSVILLE — Plantersville officials are applying for $200,000 in grant to make improvements to the Grant Wuichert Park, which has been the site for baseball and softball for years.

Alderwoman Renee Morris tells WTVA-TV in Tupelo that one grant is for improvement in the park and the other is for new playground equipment.

Morris says there’s plenty of land at the park to just about anything they want.

One problem is drainage that was created by the railroad nearby when it was repaired.

Moore says people can’t walk and the softball teams and the t-ball can’t play on the fields because the fields are wet.

Morris says the town hopes to have the grant money in place soon and to begin work on the park within the next six months.
