PLANTERSVILLE – The Plantersville Police Department made two arrests for DUI and two for drugs during a DUI safety blitz during Memorial Day weekend. It also apprehended eight fugitives and issued 76 citations.
Of the tickets issued, 41 were for no insurance. Less than 2 percent of the citations were for lack of seat belts or car seats. One of the individuals arrested was an illegal alien.
“The goal of this blitz was to keep the roads safe from drunk drivers and reduce the number of accidents,” Police Chief Maury Schuh said in a press release. “…I’m proud to report no wrecks occurred in Plantersville, but at the same time I’m appalled that 54 percent of our tickets were for people driving without insurance.”
