Plantersville Police were out in force on Saturday night as part of a DUI Enforcement Grant. Two of the arrests made were for felony DUI.
Plantersville DUI Officer Blake Green had Terry Bowens, a seven time convicted felon, pulled up beside him to talk after consuming numerous drinks.
Officer Green recognized Terry Bowens because had arrested him previously for Felony DUI and Bowens had been released from custody on Jan 22nd after serving six months.
Green knew Bowens had no driver’s license and was visibly intoxicated. Bowens was arrested and charged with Felony DUI. This is Bowens’ 5th DUI arrest in 2 years and during part of the time Bowens was incarcerated for more than 6 months. Terry Bowens, 51, is from 1554 Lee County Road 814.
Plantersville Police Chief Maury Schuh said, “Terry Bowens is a danger to the public and it is only a matter of time before he seriously injures himself or others due to his continued drinking and driving. This man has 7 prior felonies to include Burglary, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Jail Escape and even a 3rd offense domestic violence. In fact, this is the 4th time Terry Bowens has been charged with Felony DUI. The Plantersville Police will request the District Attorney’s Office to assist with removing this menace from society.”
Officer Ray Jennings arrested Justin A. Perry, 21, of 653 CR 471, Vardaman, MS for Felony DUI after Perry drove through a DUI checkpoint and narrowly missed running over 2 Plantersville Police Officers. This was Perry’s 3rd DUI arrest in 2 years. He is also facing other misdemeanor charges.
