Plantersville residents could face re-read fee for water

PLANTERSVILLE – Residents wanting their water meter reread by the city of Plantersville could face a small fine.
The Plantersville Board of Aldermen voted to charge $10 to residents who ask for their water meter to be reread.
If city officials read the meter and find the city made an improper reading, the resident will not be charged but if the initial read was correct, the resident will be charged.
Alderwoman Vicky Rigby said the fee will be a way to deter residents who repeatedly ask their meters to be reread and help the city recoup some expenses without being unfair to residents.
All aldermen voted for the fee except Ketrick Marion, who abstained.
