JACKSON – Authorities say an 82-year-old man has been charged with the hit and run of a 10-year-old Richland boy who was struck by a car while trying to get on a school bus.
Authorities said Raymond Watts turned himself in Wednesday and was arrested in the hit and run accident involving elementary student Allen Lutrick. Watts was charged with aggravated assault and leaving the scene.
Richland Lt. Aaron Hirschfield has said Lutrick was hit as he tried to board the bus Tuesday about 6:30 a.m. The car approached from the opposite direction and hit the child as he was crossing the road.
Daniel Lutrick has said his son, a fifth-grade student at Richland Upper Elementary School, suffered a fractured leg and swelling on his brain.
