TUPELO – Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Wednesday in his home on Adams Street, off North Veterans Boulevard.
Tupelo Police Maj. Anthony Hill said the white male, whose name hasn’t been released yet, was found after someone called 911. Police found the body shortly after 11 a.m., said Hill.
Until it can be ruled otherwise, the death is being treated as if a crime were committed.
“It’s department policy is to treat all incidents like this one like a crime until the evidence says otherwise,” said Hill. “You can’t rule anything out until you know for sure.”
Lee County Coroner Carolyn Gillentine-Green said an autopsy report was ordered and should be completed today. Gillentine-Green said the man had prior medical problems that could have contributed his death.
“There was blood at the scene when the body was found, so we are holding off on naming it as natural causes,” she said. “We will do a full investigation.”
