RIPLEY – The Ripley Police Department is investigating a pair of car burglaries and the theft of a phone that occurred Tuesday night at Ripley Second Baptist Church.

Officers responded to the scene at 709 Adams St. at about 8:45 p.m. after church members called to report that the windows on two automobiles had been shattered. A woman’s purse was taken from each vehicle.

The church’s pastor and a small group of members were in a meeting held inside the sanctuary at the time of the burglaries.

It is also believed the person or persons entered the church and took an iPhone from the pastor’s office.
