Police say pot stolen in break-in

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — Hattiesburg police say marijuana was stolen during a burglary of the police department last Friday.

Police spokesman Sgt. Allen Murray tells the Hattiesburg American that the break-in is under investigation but an undisclosed amount of marijuana was missing.

Two arrests have been made.

Murray says Cheryl Fluker of Hattiesburg was arrested Friday. He says she worked in the building and has been charged with furnishing or taking of prohibited items and accessory after the fact of commercial burglary.

Murray says Tyson Lee Gaines, a state inmate whose work detail included janitorial duties at the police station, was arrested Monday.

Gaines faces multiple charges including, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and two counts of commercial burglary.

Initial court appearances are pending.
