Police seek suspect in Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) — Police are looking for a suspect in connection with a Wednesday night shooting in Columbus.

Assistant Police Chief Joe Johnson tells WTVA that officers were called to a home on Burgundy Drive in East Columbus shortly after 10:30 p.m.

Investigators say four men forced their way into a storage shed where other men were gathered and a fight broke out.

Officers say Lionel Hampton Jr. was shot during the confrontation and was taken to the Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. His injuries were described as not life-threatening.
