OXFORD – Police are seeking two suspects in shooting that wounded one man early Tuesday afternoon. The attack occurred about 12:45 p.m. at Willow Knoll, a public housing complex on East Jackson Avenue.
Oxford High School and Bramlett Elementary, both of which are within a block of the scene, did not go into actual lock-down mode, in which no one is allowed to enter or leave the buildings, but school resources officers did secure entrances, said Police Chief Mike Martin.
The victim of the shooting was able to walk to an ambulance and was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi for treatment of a through-and-through bullet wound near his knee. Martin said the victim described two suspects – one black male and one white male – one of whom the victim knew.
“It was not a random shooting,” Martin said.
