PONTOTOC – A Pontotoc man was in the county jail Wednesday night, charged in connection with a weekend shooting.
Charles E. Chew, 26, with a state Highway 41 address, was charged with aggravated assault. Chew was arrested Sunday; his bond is set at $75,000.
The charge stemmed from the early Sunday morning shooting of Jeff Floyd.
Floyd, 22, Route 3 Box 337-J, Tupelo, was shot in the face with a 20-gauge shotgun during an altercation at a Wilson Chapel Road night spot.
Floyd was in serious but stable condition Wednesday at the North Mississippi Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Pontotoc County Sheriff Randy Roberts said his deputies are still trying to sort through information and interviews to determine a cause for the shooting that occurred at midnight.
