Pontotoc Aldermen approve budget by 4-1 vote

PONTOTOC – The Board of Aldermen voted 4-1 to adopt the Fiscal Year 2011 budget which goes into effect Oct. 1.
The Pontotoc city budget has been set at $14,618,096, which is some $540,000 less than last year’s budget.
The greatest expenditures come out of the pubic works and gas department, which will spend about $6.9 million the coming year followed by the water department, which is set to spend $1.2 million and the police department with just more than $1 million in spending.
Alderman at-large Herman Austin voted not to approve the budget.
