Pontotoc man killed in crash

PONTOTOC – One Pontotoc man was killed and another injured in a car accident Thursday night.
Teddy G. Dowdy, 45, of Pontotoc, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on Pontocola Road around 8 p.m.
Dowdy and Mitchell D. Mathews, 41, of Pontotoc, were thrown from their vehicle after hitting several trees on the side off Pontocola Road.
Pontotoc County Sheriff Leo Mask said the car the two men were in sideswiped another car, overcorrected and then ran off the road into a wooded area.
Mathews was taken to the North Mississippi Medical Center to be treated for injuries. Mask said he was still in the hospital Friday.
The sideswiped car had one person in it who was not injured.
