Pontotoc officials seek farmer's market grant

PONTOTOC – In a special called meeting last week, the city’s aldermen approved applying for a downtown development grant to create a farmer’s market.
The market will be created at the green space on Lafayette Street, north of Russell’s Furniture Store.
“We can pay for the matching part out of tourism dollars,” said Mayor Jeff Stafford. “But there is no sense in paying for all of it in tourism monies when we can get a grant.”
The grant is a matching 50/50 fund, which means the grant covers half and the city covers the other half.
