PONTOTOC – In the upcoming school year the county schools anticipate saving at least $150,000 by furloughing staff for three days.
All three of these days are set in the second semester of the school year, Jan. 3, Feb. 21 and May 23.
This means the staff must take these days without pay.
This includes not only teachers but secretaries, custodians, assistant teachers, and everyone employed in the cafeteria.
Pontotoc County Superintendent of Education Ken Roye said the furloughs were necessary due to budget cuts and constraints in the upcoming school year.
