Pontotoc Ward 1 special election for alderman today

The Ward 1 Pontotoc polls are open today as voters in that area of the city will determine who their alderman will be.

The person winning this election will fill out the remaining term of the late Terry Chewe who died last month.

Three people have qualified for the race Lena Chewe, who is the wife of the late alderman, retired businessman Scott Stringer and McNeil Stanford who works for the Pontotoc City Schools.

The city poll, located in the HUD subdivision for the some 1,000 voters, will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Votes will be counted immediately afterward.
