Portion of U.S. Highway 45 to be resurfaced

A contract has been awarded for resurfacing about seven miles of U.S. Highway 45 between Tupelo and Saltillo.

The state Department of Transportation announced Thursday that a $1 million contract had been awarded to APAC-Mississippi Inc. of Jackson for the work which will involve milling up some of the roadway and resurfacing the entire highway from McCullough Boulevard in Tupelo to Saltillo.

Motorists should use caution on the section of highway while the work is under way and may encounter some lane closures during the project.

The work is scheduled for completion in September.
