BOONEVILLE – The Prentiss County and Benton County school districts will partner to apply for a 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Kim Hamm, who will assume the position of curriculum coordinator for the Prentiss County district on July 1, gave details of the application to the school board Monday.
The grant would support the hiring of tutors to help students meet state and local standards in core academic subjects such as reading and math. In addition to after school tutors, the grant would pay for tutors during regular school hours as well as before school, she said.
Hamm said teaming with another district is expected to boost both districts’ likelihood of being awarded the funding.
