Prentiss County jury acquits man on marijuana charge

BOONEVILLE – Britt Corbett of Baldwyn went home Thursday a free man, cleared of drug possession charges.
A Prentiss County jury deliberated about three hours after three days of trial, said his attorney Steve Farese of Ashland.
Farese said his client told police he was set up when they found marijuana in his vehicle during a Highway 45 traffic stop.
He was charged with possession of 4.9 pounds of the illegal substance.
“The state was not able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr. Corbett was aware the marijuana was in the vehicle,” Farese said.
