Prentiss County trooper awarded for making most DUI arrests

A Northeast Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper was awarded this year as the trooper for making the most DUI arrests in 2012.

Chris White, of Troop F, made 315 DUI arrests in 2012 and was honored at the annual luncheon in Olive Branch.

Troopers in Troop F, which covers Benton, Alcorn, Tishomingo, Tippah, Prentiss, Union, Pontotoc, Lee and Itawamba Counties, made 1,632 DUI arrests last year.

“One of the most important facets of our job is to remove impaired motorists from our roads and highways,” said MHP Director Colonel Donnell Berry in a press release, “During 2012, we and fewer alcohol-related fatalities than any other year in recent memory and it’s due to the hard work and dedications of troopers like Trooper White.”

White is assigned to Prentiss County and is an active member of the Highway Patrol’s special operations group.

315 arrests averages out to about 1 arrest per day. 365 days in a year and you know he had days off. The whole Troop F had 1,632 arrests. I wonder how many troopers there are in F? He’s basically getting 1 out of every 5 arrests. I’m all for getting drunks off the road… just curious as to how he’s arresting someone for DUI basically every single day he’s on the job.
