Prentiss school board OKs textbook purchases

Education stockBOONEVILLE – The Prentiss County School Board on Monday approved textbook purchases for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Superintendent Randle Downs recommended that textbooks for K-6 math and reading curricula be purchased to conform with the common core curriculum to which schools across the state are converting.

The purchase will require an approximately $90,000 increase in the textbook budget, which Downs said could be transferred from district maintenance or from funds held by the district from a settlement with the Booneville School District over school transfers.
