BOONEVILLE – The Prentiss County school board on Monday agreed to initiate the search for a new board attorney with an ad in Booneville’s weekly newspaper for three weeks.

The board hopes to receive applications, narrow down the field of candidates, conduct interviews and have a new attorney in place for the start of the new fiscal year on July 1.

Booneville attorney Allison Worley resigned from the position in late April after board members blamed her for administrative errors leading up to a scheduled contract nonrenewal hearing for New Site principal Ronald Clark.

The errors resulted in the hearing officer determining that Clark should be rehired based on state personnel policy, and the board on Monday approved Clark’s contract for the 2014-2015 school year.
