Pugh hired to lead city school district

PONTOTOC – Adam Pugh, a former principal of South Pontotoc High School, has been hired as superintendent of the Pontotoc City School District.
The 19-year educator has been principal of Lafayette High School in Oxford for seven years.
“I’m really excited about the opportunity to come to Pontotoc where there is a rich tradition of academic excellence,” Pugh said in a news release.
Pugh received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Mississippi State University and expects to receive his Ph.D. from the University of Mississippi in August.
Wally Henry, president of the district’s Board of Trustees, said Pugh was one of 21 candidates for the job vacated by retiring Superintendent Conwell Duke.
