Randolph fire substation, better protection on the agenda

RANDOLPH – The Randolph Fire Department is taking measures to provide better fire protection.
There will be a meeting at the Washington General Store at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 to discuss plans to help the fire protection for those who live in the Judah, Buckhorn and Robbs communities.
These communities are at the farthest from the Randolph Fire Station, prompting volunteer firemen to look into the possibility of putting in a substation to cut down on response time.
Randolph recently has lowered the fire rating for those living within five miles of the fire department to 8, and the chief is concerned about those who live in the outer skirts of the Randolph fire protection area.
