TUPELO – The lockdown at Rankin Elementary was lifted at 10:40 a.m. today after about an hour in effect.
An apparent armed robberynearby had the police searching the neighborhood for a suspect.
A full lockdown meant that the front doors of the school were locked and students were kept in their classrooms.
“All of the students are safe,” said TPSD Communications Director Kay Bishop. “The safety of our students is our top priority.”
