Reed leads Kentucky past Ole Miss, 2-0, in SEC Baseball

HOOVER, Ala. — A.J. Reed pitched 5-2/3 scoreless innings and went 4-for-4 at the plate with a solo home run to lead Kentucky to a 2-0 victory over Mississippi on Tuesday in the opening round of the Southeastern Conference baseball tournament.

Reed (5-2) and Taylor Rogers combined to throw a seven-hitter for the Wildcats in a game that was played in 2 hours and 21 minutes.

The victory snapped a four-game losing streak for Kentucky (42-15), while the loss was the fifth in a row for the Rebels (34-23).

Reed’s fourth-inning home run, his fourth of the season, gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. Cameron Flynn made the score 2-0 in the sixth with a single that scored Luke Maile.

Matt Snyder had four hits for Ole Miss. Snyder and Reed accounted for eight of the game’s 14 hits.

Bobby Wahl (6-3) struck out six through six innings in the loss.
