MEMPHIS – Most of Northeast Mississippi and the rest of the Mid-South are under a tornado watch until 9 p.m. Thursday.
A watch means conditions are favorable for the formation of tornadoes.
The Northeast Mississippi counties included in the tornado watch are Alcorn, Benton, Calhoun, Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lafayette, Lee, Marshall, Monroe, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishoming and Union.
The region also remains under a wind advisory until 9 p.m. Sustained winds of 25 to 30 miles per hour are expected, with gusts of 45 miles per hour or higher.
