Regional Center gets $2,500 donation
OXFORD – The North Mississippi Regional Center has been given a $2,500 donation by the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal in honor of Johnnie Kelso of Mantachie.
Kelso, a Daily Journal employee, is a member of the state Board of Mental Health and a longtime supporter of NMRC which provides a variety of services for people with mental retardation and developmental disabilities in the northern counties of the state. The agency is a division of the state Board of Mental Health.
“Mrs. Kelso is a tireless worker on the state board and in numerous other ways on behalf of children with special needs,” said Billy Crews, president and publisher of the Daily Journal. “We are pleased to invest in the very special and caring work of the North Mississippi Regional Center.”
Kelso will be honored again on April 18 when NMRC’s new 10-bed home in Fulton is named the Johnnie S. Kelso Rosedale Community Home. The home will provide a community-based living environment and opportunities for increased self-sufficiency for adult female clients.
