Relay For Life News

Special to The Monitor-Herald
This next week is really going to be busy! On April 2, there will be a bake sale inside BancorpSouth in Bruce, sponsored by the BancorpSouth Team. Be sure to go by and support this new team.
On April 3 the Survivor Team will have a bake sale on the south side of the square in Bruce. And on April 4, the Survivors and Friends Team will hold a Pampering Day at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Calhoun City. They will be offering glamour makeovers, manicures, massages, glamour hair, salad luncheon and lots of door prizes. Cost will be $20 per person. Please call in advance for tickets or reservations: Rebecca at 927-0233, Patricia at 628-5944 or stop by the Monitor-Herald office. There is still plenty of room, so it’s not too late to call.
On April 5, Lewis Memorial will host a luncheon after church in the Methodist Corner on the Calhoun City Square. Everyone is invited. Love offering will be taken.
The Relay For Life Womanless Beauty Review will be held on May 16 at the Methodist Corner in Calhoun City, sponsored by Lewis Memorial’s Snowmore Cancer Team. Mark your calendars – this is one event you don’t want to miss. Thanks, Bro. Scott for taking this on this year. If you would like to compete in the Beauty Review, please let Bro. Scott Wright know.
Survivors and Friends Team members are selling wooden purple ribbons for your yard. They have two sizes, 4 feet tall and 18 inches. The large ones cost $25, and the small ones are $10. We have been asked to color our community purple to celebrate the 25th year of Relay, and these wooden ribbons can be used year after year. To order your ribbon, call Rebecca at 927-0233, Patricia Baker at 628-5944 or any team member; or go by the Monitor-Herald office.
I want to thank Ann King at Artifacts in Bruce for her contribution to Relay For Life again this year. Each year she sets aside a special day for Relay for Life Day, where she gives a percentage of each sale to the team of the customer’s choice. Saturday she donated to the following teams based on sales purchased by customers supporting these teams: Weyerhaeuser, Lewis Memorial, Bruce First Baptist, Cowsert Trucking and Survivor Teams. This is the kind of person you want to shop with. Thanks again!
We would also like to thank Drivers Flat Baptist Church for a very generous donation this year. We really appreciate organizations like them.
Lets all mark our calendars for June 12, the date of our Relay For Life Event in Bruce on the square.
