TUPELO – Renasant Bank notified customers Tuesday of two authentic-looking emails hitting inboxes that are phishing attempts.
The emails were sent to Renasant and other bank customers and appear to be from Renasant.
One of the emails asks clients to log on to a fake Renasant Bank website in a fraudulent attempt to steal information. The other email asks individuals to take a survey and supply a debit or credit card number in return for $50. Neither email was from Renasant Bank, and they are an attempt to steal data.
The bank also said people are making recorded calls claiming to be with Renasant and are requesting personal information such as debit or credit card numbers.
Officials urge people to not give out any personal banking information over the phone, through email or online.
Contact Renasant bank or (877) 367-5371 if you were affected by this scam.
