Renasant to open Smithville facility

TUPELO – Renasant Bank said it will open a temporary facility in Smithville to replace the branch that was destroyed by a tornado.
The temporary facility, on the location of the original branch, is scheduled to open the week of May 15 barring any unforeseen circumstances, said Renasant spokesman John Oxford.
Until the facility opens, Renasant’s customers in Smithville can bank at other branches, online or through the bank’s hotline at (800) 680-1601.
The safety deposit boxes that were in Smithville are now in the main branch in downtown Amory. All of them were salvaged, Oxford said.
The four Smithville employees survived the tornado by taking shelter in the bank’s vault, he said. They have been transferred to the Amory and Aberdeen branches for now.
Renasant is working with customers on an individual basis when it comes to loss of paperwork. The bank is on high alert about fraudulent access to accounts, he said.
