Report: Clay County body identified

By WCBI

TIBBEE – A body found in Catalpa Creek in the Tibbee community of southern Clay County Wednesday morning is identified as 28-year-old Alex Sims, who was reported missing Sunday or Monday by his wife in Meridian, according to WCBI-TV.

Sims was last seen Saturday at a home in Meridian. The Clay County Sheriff’s Department and Meridian Police Department are jointly working the case and are treating it for now as a homicide, according to WCBI.

The cause of death is still being determined, Clay County Coroner Alvin Carter told WCBI.

Carter says Sims was identified by his wife today. Distinctive tattoos, including one of the state of Mississippi, helped ID him.

His body was found floating by two fishermen Wednesday morning. The case is still under investigation.
