REPORT: Miss. suit challenges U.S. House size

OXFORD — A University of Mississippi student, along with residents from several other states, filed a lawsuit in federal court challenging the constitutionality of the current size of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Oxford native John Tyler Clemons filed the suit with registered voters from Montana, South Dakota, Delaware and Utah. Named as defendants are U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke; Robert Groves, director of the Bureau of Census; and Lorraine Miller, clerk of the U.S, House of Representatives.

Clemons, a former editor of Ole Miss’ school paper, said he joined the suit because he feels Mississippians are under represented.
