PHIL CAMPBELL, Ala. — Residents of the Alabama town of Phil Campbell, which was devastated by an April tornado, have met with community planners, landscape architects and other experts to try and design what their rebuilt town will look like.

The TimesDaily of Florence reports that bike trails and pedestrian paths are a big part of the designs.

One drawing among the plans featured trails that link downtown to a nearby neighborhood, with a park at one end and storm shelters in between.

Phil Campbell, nearby Hackleburg and other communities were devastated by a series of tornados that ripped across the Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Tennessee on April 27.
