RESTAURANT INSPECTIONS

By Carlie Kollath/NEMS Daily Journal

The state Department of Health regularly inspects restaurants and food facilities.
The facilities are graded from A to C. “A” is the best. “C” is the equivalent of failing, but the inspection isn’t bad enough to merit the closure of the restaurant.
The following Lee County facilities were inspected between June 27 and Tuesday. The facilities are listed as they are in the MSDH system.

A’s

Wellsprings #1 (nursing home in Saltillo)
Wellsprings #2 (nursing home in Saltillo)
Junkyard Burgers (Guntown)
HISSHO (sushi counter inside Kroger)
Bren’s Diner
McDonalds #3 (North Gloster)
Harvey’s
Outback
Pizza Hut (South Gloster)
Sonic Drive Inn (South Gloster)

B’s

Abner’s – Monday – follow-up visit after the C score on 6/29 – Everything was in compliance. The inspector, Valerie Glass, previously said that if restaurant makes a C, the highest it can make on its next inspection is a B.

C’s

Abner’s – 6/29 – Not in compliance: Food in good condition, safe and unadulterated; insects, rodents and animals not present.

The health department’s disclaimer:
“If in doubt about any facility, call the responsible health department. Data are for informational purposes, not enforcement.”
The health department also has the option of revising the reports.
