Rienzi man sentenced in federal drug case

djournal_Court-NewsABERDEEN (AP) – A Rienzi man has been sentenced to more than seven years in federal prison for his role in an alleged conspiracy to distribute cocaine and marijuana throughout Northeast Mississippi.

Eric Mills pleaded guilty in May to conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and unlawful transport of a firearm. The Daily Corinthian reports that a third count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a drug trafficking crime was dropped as part of his plea agreement.

Mills must also serve three years on post-release supervision following his release.

Mills was one of 10 individuals indicted in 2012. The indictment alleges the group arranged the purchase and shipment of drugs into the region and set up several “stash houses” to store the drugs before they were distributed.
