RIPLEY – Voters will determine today whether liquor and beer will be legalized within the city limits of Ripley.
Ballots will be cast from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Ripley Park and Recreation Gym.
Voters will decide two separate issues, one on whether to legalize the sale of light wine and beer and the other on liquor sales.
Ripley becomes the latest city in Mississippi to hold a city-only referendum on alcohol under a 2012 state law. Previously, any vote on liquor had to be countywide.
Corinth and New Albany are among the Mississippi cities that have authorized liquor sales with city-only votes.
