RIPLEY – Jackie Lenell McKenzie is the newest member of the Ripley Board of Aldermen.
McKenzie earned 162 votes in Tuesday’s runoff for the Ward 3 position. He bested Arnold Bullock, who received 69 votes. A total of 231 cast ballots in the race.
According to the Circuit Clerk’s office, some affidavit ballots will be counted Wednesday, but it will not sway the outcome of the race.
McKenzie will serve the unexpired portion of former alderman Lonnie Smith’s term, which ends in July 2013. Smith was in his first term when he resigned late last year.
