OXFORD – DeSoto County businessman Charles F. “Chuck” Roberts III will report to jail Monday for a 10-day sentence after pleading guilty to lying to a bank about a real estate development.
Roberts, 46, admitted Jan. 31 in federal court that he made false statements and reports to influence Citizens National Bank to get money from a $5 million loan that his development company, RH Holdings, had with the bank.
The loan was to develop Cherry Hill subdivision in Southaven, which was never built.
Last July, Roberts was sentenced to 10 days in prison, four years supervised release and restitution of $45,527.
Thursday, he was ordered to report to the Lafayette County Detention Center in Oxford to serve his jail time.
Roberts’ business partner, Jamie Harris, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of bank fraud but will not be sentenced for several months while a report is prepared for the judge to consider his punishment.
In exchange for their pleas, the government agreed not to charge them with any other offenses arising from the bank loan.
