Rogers receives 10 years in prison on crack cocaine charge

OXFORD – Kermit Omar Rogers of Shannon was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison on federal crack cocaine charges.
Rogers, 36, of Shannon was indicted in October 2009 on allegations he possessed and sought to sell more than 50 grams of crack cocaine and the unlawful transport of firearms in Lee County.
He pleaded guilty Dec. 3 in a deal that dropped the gun charge.
Chief U.S. District Judge Michael P. Mills also sentenced Rogers to eight years’ supervised release after he completes his prison term and to lose 10 years of federal benefits eligibility.
