Candidates Berlon Quillian and Bill Nance advanced to a September 10 runoff after votes were counted in last week’s special election in Ecru to elect a new alderman to the town board. A tally of votes cast in the August 27 special election showed Bill Nance with 70 votes, Berlon Quillian with 53 votes, Patrick Coker with 29 votes and Whitney Smith with 25 votes.

On September 10, Ecru residents may cast their votes in the runoff election from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Ecru Community Center, said Gretchin Moody, town clerk. In addition to regular hours, Moody said her office will also be open from 8 a.m. until 12 noon on Saturday, September 7, for voting absentee. Noon on September 7 is the deadline for voting absentee.
