SALTILLO – The Saltillo Fire Department spent at least an hour Sunday afternoon putting out multiple grass fires along Highway 45.
According to Mayor Bill Williams, the fires started around 2 p.m. and continued for about a mile stretch along Hwy. 45.
He said the fires started at the south city limits and were on the east side of the road. He said firefighters got the fire out fairly quickly with the assistance of Unity Fellowship Volunteer Fire Department. As soon as the fire was out it started raining.
Williams said it slowed down traffic on the highway and there was one accident reported from rubbernecking.
Fire officials are trying to determine the cause, and it’s under investigation.
