OXFORD – Michael Salts, a former Prentiss County funeral home owner, has asked a federal judge to delay his fraud trial.
Salts and his wife, Marie, were indicted Sept. 21 on two counts that they used the wires and attempted a conspiracy to commit mail fraud associated with a Tupelo house purchase.
Wednesday, Michael Salts’ attorney, Robert W. Davis Jr., asked the court to delay the trial set for Dec. 12.
Davis said more work must be done to prepare the defense, and the government has no objections to a delay.
Marie Salts is represented by the federal public defender’s office.
Both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
